As you move through the later years of middle age, you begin thinking about how many more years you will work for your current employer (or if self-employed, when will you want to pass on the business).
What do you see? Will every day be the same as the day before? Will you eventually have difficulty getting up in the morning because there is so little to look forward to? Will doctor visits become the highlight of your week?
Is that what your life will be in ten years?
If not, what are you going to do about it? Keep at the same job until your boss (or customers) boot you out? Or are you going to make plans NOW for a very fulfilling life after “retirement”?
Picture what a very fulfilling life means to you. Flesh it out.
Does it include recreation, travel, time for new hobbies, deep connections with family and friends?
How about that long-held dream to start a business? It’s never too late to jump into the world of sharing your knowledge or unique products with a waiting world.
For me, it means always learning and growing myself, helping others fulfill their potential. I want to embrace life as long as my mind and body will cooperate.
